My first word was story. As a child, the only place I wanted to be was in the library - or a bookstore. Every locked diary or spiral-bound notebook I had was filled with imagined tales. 

 

Many years later, not much has changed.

 

I write freelance feature pieces and micro-blog on Instagram. I spend my days interviewing farmers, artisans and creative folk, then turning around to chase an energetic toddler - and writing about it all.

 

I am currently working on my debut historical fiction novel, which takes place in 1937. It’s full of gangsters, family secrets, a small-town tragedy, and a betrayal that unfolds on an island in the middle of the San Francisco Bay.
